Guide to Business Internationalization in Vietnam

In the midst of the COVID-19 global recession, Vietnam will be one of the few major economies to experience growth. The International Monetary Fund forecasts that Vietnam’s GDP will rise 1.6% in 2020 and then rebound by a further 8.1% in 2021, a testament to the resilience and dynamism of its economy.

The fourth largest economy in Southeast Asia and one of the fastest growing economies in the world, Vietnam presents a financially robust and politically stable opportunity for foreign direct investment. Supported by a skilled, diversified, cost-effective labor force, the country has succeeded as a manufacturing hub, producing high-tech and value-added goods for worldwide export. Policies friendly to foreign investment and free trade have allowed the export manufacturing industry to flourish, resulting in the growth of supporting industry hubs, while a burgeoning domestic consumer class offers opportunities for investment in e-commerce and retail sectors.

On December 9th, 2020, The European House – Ambrosetti, with its strategic partner in the ASEAN region, Mahanakorn Partners Group (MPG), presented “Guida all’internazionalizzazione di impresa nel Sud Est Asiatico e in Vietnam,” the second installment in a series of webinars that highlight investment opportunities in ASEAN for Italian companies. At the webinar, speakers presented a comprehensive overview of investment opportunities for Italian companies offered by the growth of Vietnamese and ASEAN economies. High-level representatives of institutions in support of foreign investment granted insight into Vietnam’s commercial landscape, while speakers from leading Italian companies in Vietnam offered advice derived from practical experience.

The webinar’s speakers were H.E. Antonio Alessandro (Ambassador of Italy in Hanoi), Tomaso Andreatta (Indochina Chief Representative, Intesa Sanpaolo), Luca Bernardinetti (Chairman and Managing Partner, MPG), Gianluca Fiume (Chairman & General Director, Piaggio Asia Pacific), Maily Anna Maria Nguyen (Representative for Europe and Switzerland, Becamex IDC Corp.; Head of Desk Vietnam, Unioncamere Emilia-Romagna), Lorenzo Tavazzi (Partner and Head of International Development, The European House – Ambrosetti) and Ilaria Turatti (Head of public relations, communication and marketing, Turatti Group).

Following the webinar, attendees had the opportunity to receive a free and personalized consultation session with consultants from MPG and The European House – Ambrosetti.
